MOGU
What is Mogu (Bone Palmistry)?
Mogu is a form reading tradition from China and Taiwan in which a reader feels the bones of the palm and fingers, and is said to read tendencies in personality, life path, and financial fortune from their shape and thickness. In Taiwan, specialist readers still practice this touch-based technique today as a living traditional art.

Origins & History
Mogu is a technique, passed down in China and Taiwan, in which the bones of the palm and fingers are actually felt by touch, and personality and fortune are said to be read from the thickness of the bones and the shape of the joints. In Taiwan in particular (for example in Hsinchu), readers who still practice touch-based readings continue to operate today, confirming this as a living traditional technique. That said, no classical source has been confirmed that systematically compiles this touch-based technique itself, and the idea of judging a person from bone structure is found only in part, in passages concerning bone reading within the classical form-reading text "Mayi Xiangfa" (Ma Yi’s Physiognomy).
How It Works
- 01Upload a photo showing the structure of the hand’s bones, or answer questions about its bone features (since the original technique is touch-based, this service offers it in adapted form, through photo assessment or multiple-choice answers).
- 02Detect and organize bone features such as the thickness of the palm, the width of the bones, and the shape of the joints.
- 03Cross-reference the detected features against the bone-reading concepts found in the Chinese classical form-reading texts.
- 04From the matching combination of features, read tendencies in personality and in life and financial fortune.
What It Reveals
It is well suited to reading innate tendencies in personality and characteristics of one’s life and financial fortune. However, since this is originally a touch-based technique and no systematic classical source has been confirmed for it, this service’s assessment is an adaptation based on the underlying bone-reading concepts. It is best received as one point of reference rather than as a definitive reading.
