Origins & History
Pawukon is a 210-day calendar from the island of Bali with a complex structure in which ten different “weeks,” ranging in length from one to ten days, run in parallel at the same time. Among these overlapping week cycles, the seven-day cycle known as “wuku” is given particular importance, and there are 30 wuku in total, completing a full cycle over 210 days.
Rooted in Balinese Hindu tradition, this calendar is used to determine the applicable wuku from a person’s date of birth and read the character and fortune tendencies associated with that particular week.
